FBI, EOCO Seize Shatta Wale’s Lamborghini Over $4.7M Fraud Case

Popular Ghanaian dancehall artist, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., better known as *Shatta Wale*, is currently under investigation following the seizure of his luxury vehicle linked to a multimillion-dollar fraud case.

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in Ghana, in collaboration with the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Justice, confiscated a 2019 Lamborghini Urus from the singer’s residence in Trassaco Valley Phase 1, Accra. The operation was executed by EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) based on a formal request made by U.S. authorities in 2023.

According to EOCO's acting Executive Director, Raymond Archer, the seized vehicle was traced to Nana Kwabena Amuah, a Ghanaian national currently serving an 86-month sentence in the United States for financial crimes. Authorities allege the Lamborghini was purchased using proceeds from those illegal activities.

Shatta Wale, reportedly unaware of the vehicle’s questionable origin, voluntarily handed over the car to avoid public confrontation. He also appealed for discretion, citing the vehicle’s importance to his public image. EOCO confirmed the cooperation, stating:
*“The car was seized from Charles Nii Armah, aka Shatta Wale. He requested that the seizure not be made public due to the car’s significance to his brand. Officers allowed him to surrender the vehicle, which is now in EOCO’s custody.”*

U.S. authorities are preparing to repatriate the car as part of the4.74 million restitution owed by Amuah.

In a social media response, Shatta Wale expressed frustration with how the seizure was conducted, especially criticizing EOCO for arriving with armed personnel.
*“EOCO boss, the president didn’t appoint you to humiliate citizens,”* he wrote on Facebook. *“Remember, God no sleep.”*

As investigations deepen, both Shatta Wale and a former senior officer from Ghana’s National Signal Bureau (NSB) have been named persons of interest and are expected to be invited for questioning.
