When you think of influential Nigerian entrepreneurs making waves across industries, Kunle Soname stands out — not just for his wealth, but for his calm, focused demeanor and impactful contributions to business, sports, and philanthropy.

A Man of Many Hats

Kunle Soname is best known as the founder and chairman of Bet9ja, Nigeria’s leading betting platform launched in 2013. But his business ventures go far beyond tech and gaming. In 2018, he also established ValueJet, one of Nigeria’s most efficient airlines, which officially began commercial operations on October 10, 2022, with routes to Abuja, Port Harcourt, Asaba, and Jos.

Soname’s vision isn’t limited to Nigeria. In 2015, he made history by becoming the first Nigerian to own a European football club after acquiring C.D. Feirense in Portugal.

A Passion for Football

A passionate sportsman, Soname founded Remo Stars Football Club (formerly FC Dender) in 2004. Originally based in Lagos, the club relocated to the Remo area of Ogun State and now plays in the Nigerian Premier League’s top division. He also owns Beyond Limits Football Academy, further nurturing grassroots talent in Nigeria.

Academic and Civic Background

Soname studied Estate Management at Obafemi Awolowo University, graduating in 1988. His public service journey includes a stint as chairman of a local government in Lagos State  a role that shaped his leadership style and civic-minded philosophy.

In recognition of his philanthropic impact, he was inducted as a patron at the University of Lagos in 2022.
